Emergency Call

This guide applies to the Sub-Zero 600, 648PRO and 700 product families covered by the manufacturer’s EC40 guidance. Confirm the model before interpreting a code.

What EC40 means

EC40 reports prolonged freezer compressor operation. A door left open can cause it, but fan, sensor or sealed-system faults may also be involved. The code alone does not identify a replacement part.

What to check

Record the code, model and actual compartment temperatures. Check that the door closes and ventilation is unobstructed. Follow the model’s condenser cleaning instructions when appropriate.

When service is needed

If temperatures rise or the warning returns, arrange diagnosis. Do not erase the code while the appliance remains warm; the stored fault helps the technician. A reset cannot repair a mechanical failure.
